Listen to a haunting Sephardic Piyut for the High Holidays that comes to us from the Masorti Movement in Israel. It is a beautiful example of the vibrancy and gifts that come to world Jewry by having an active Masorti Movement in Israel. A Piyut written hundreds of years ago by a woman, a “Bat Joseph”, appears in our movement’s Mahzor and is put to music by one of our women cantors and recorded by her, her son, Rabbi Eli (from our kehilla in Central Tel Aviv) and others. Let us know if your shul uses this piyut at the holidays!
We hope you enjoyed the piyut and the beautiful melody and sweet voices. Now make your voice heard! Join our campaign for an egalitarian prayer space at the Kotel. It’s just a click away.
