Jewish Leaders March in Protest for Egalitarian Prayer at the Kotel
On November 2, rabbis from the Masorti and Reform movements in Israel, together with a contingent from Women of the Wall, marched to protest the lack of progress in implementing the promised egalitarian prayer space at the Kotel. They were joined by over 200 people. In a scene unthinkable to many, violence and scuffles ensued, with Orthodox counter-protesters attempting to block the rabbis while police and security stood by and watched. Utlimately, the rabbis did enter the Kotel Plaza.
