Dear Friends,

A variety of issues concerning the religion-state discourse are on the Knesset agenda this week. On Monday the Committee for Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs will discuss “Religious Pluralism in the Diaspora” and the” black lists” that the Chief Rabbinate has compiled of citizens whose Jewishness is in question. On Tuesday the committee will discuss strengthening the bond between Argentinian Jewry and Israel, and on Wednesday the Labor, Welfare and Health Committee will discuss the urgency of bringing the remaining Jews in Ethiopia to Israel. The Ministerial Committee for Legislation will discuss MK Aliza Lavie’s (Yesh Atid) bill proposing changes in the composition of the Electoral Assembly of Israel’s Chief Rabbinate, and will continue the discussion concerning the bill for budgeting the religious councils.
