The purpose and mission of the Masorti Foundation for Conservative Judaism is to support the work of Israelis in building a Judaism that preserves observance and tradition while recognizing how modern life in Israel is lived.
Hundreds of thousands of Israelis in the Masorti Movement—young and old, native-born and immigrants, men and women, able and disabled—are engaged in building communities that embody a democratic vision of Jewish life in Israel. Their spirit is pioneering, combining modern Israeli life with traditional Jewish belief, while promoting equality and inclusion–entirely in keeping with our Mission Statement.
Through education, through the exchange of ideas, through advocacy and, crucially, through financial of support of the Masorti Foundation, Conservative Jews in the United States can participate in this historic and vital enterprise.
We are enriched by the opportunities to learn from one another, to support one another and to speak in one voice: the voice of the Jewish People.
Quietly, systematically and guided by a love of Israel, the movement succeeded in establishing itself in Israel … winning hearts. The challenge ahead …is great … you will rise to the challenge.Shimon Peres
It is with deep sadness that the Masorti Foundation for Conservative Judaism in Israel notes the passing of Simon Peres z”l. An elder statesman with many contributions to the State of Israel and a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Shimon Peres was a friend to our Movement in Israel. Just 4 years ago, he attended the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Masorti Movement in Israel. He came to congratulate the leadership and met with attendees from NOAM youth movement. He said many wonderful things, but this quote is particularly beautiful:
“Judaism is like a flower bed. It is most beautiful when it blossoms and has many different colors.”Barbara Kavadias
