The Masorti Foundation condemns the decision of the Israeli Ministry of the Interior to deny Yosef Kibita and the Abayudaya Jewish community of Uganda the opportunity to make aliyah to Israel under the Law of Return.
As reported, “The decision is a slap in the face to the Conservative movement, which converted most of the members of this emerging Jewish community and has taken it under its wings.”
For the sake of Israel’s future — and the unity of the Jewish people — Jewish religious pluralism and full respect for Jews of Color must be of paramount importance to Israel and us all. We urge the Ministry to reconsider and will support all efforts to engage the courts to see that justice is done for Yosef Kibita and the rest of the Abayudaya community.
An emergency appeal has been launched to address this injustice. For more details about the appeal, click here.

Thanks to everyone who are showing me love and I really appreciate it. To all my fellow Black Jews, this should not weaken us but should just make us more stronger. Jewish is who we are and Israel is our home. Nobody will ever change that from day one.
Israelis are good and loving people from my experience, but just a few have negative mind about us Black Jews. God Bless you all. Shabbat Shalom.Yosef Kibita
