Modern Day Miracle

We have all suffered through dark days of the Coronavirus, of lockdowns, of financial distress, of illness and sadly, even death,  But in a modern day miracle of science, we now have not only a vaccine, but two vaccines with more in the pipeline. A colossal achievement for which we give grateful thanks.

Prayer for People Receiving the Vaccine

God who answers in times of distress and saves, “Healer of broken hearts who binds their wounds” (Psalm 147), who shares divine wisdom with flesh and blood and has given us understanding, science and discernment to create this vaccine:

May it be Your will that through the power of this human effort aided by God who graciously grants humans knowledge and teaches mortals understanding, science and discernment that I merit health and resilience so that these verses may be fulfilled for us: “I have removed illness from your midst” “for I the ETERNAL am your healer” (Exodus 23; 15). “Let them praise the ETERNAL for God’s steadfast love and wondrous deeds for humanity” (Psalm 107). Praised are You who brings healing to all flesh and does wonders.

Prayer Recited by those Administering the Vaccine

“I praise the ETERNAL with all my heart in the assembled congregation of the upright” (Psalm 111).

God who answers in times of distress and saves, “Healer of broken hearts who binds their wounds” (Psalm 147), Who shares divine wisdom with flesh and blood and has given us understanding, science and discernment to create this vaccine:

May it be Your will that through the power of this act I will merit healing and saving lives of all the living, and be able to fulfill the teaching, “whoever saves a single life… saves an entire world ” (Mishnah Sanhedrin 4:5) as it is written “I am going to bring her relief and healing” (Jeremiah 33).

Praised are You who brings healing to all flesh and does wonders.

A Personal Story from Long-Time Masorti Supporter Golda Mendelsohn

We were going at last to get vaccinated! My grandson, Matan drove me and my son Stuart to  Kikar Rabin in Tel Aviv, for our vaccinations.  Following on separately was my other grandson, Noam.

One of the first people we met who directed us was the young leader from the NOAM Youth Movement of Masorti Israel.

In the discussion, my grandson Matan revealed to the NOAMnik that he too had been a member of NOAM many years ago…his chapter being in Ramot Tzion in Jerusalem.   This was followed by my other grandson showing up, also a former member of Ramot Tzion’s chapter…. and is his name is Noam!

Such sweet coincidences…names and organizations!

My son, Stuart Mendelsohn, took the photo above left.

We’re both so grateful to get this protection and wish the same for all in Israel and America.
